Due to this challenging pandemic their country is experiencing, government legislation states all events to be cancelled to mid June at the earliest, and possibly longer help minimise the implication/spread by transmission to others. The only way to enjoy their way of a new lifestyle, has been to cancel advertised events in the next few months to help authorities to be able to minimise the spread in these testing times ahead. The safety and well being of members is their priority.
Valley Team Penning was formed after a group of riders found there was a need for a club in the Lower Hunter/Newcastle area. The first event held at Gresford in 2011 and was a massive success.
The event is run over two days with Team Penning on Saturday and Arena Sorting on Sunday. The aim is to provide a safe environment for all members and families.
It is a western equestrian sport that has evolved from farm and station work separating cattle into pens for branding, doctoring, or transport. It is a fast-paced event that gives teams of three riders on horseback from 60 to 90 seconds to separate three specifically identified cattle from a mob and put them into a pen at the opposite end of the arena.
